Storm Cancellations/Closings

We are listing cancellations, postponements and closings because of the anticipated winter storm as we receive them. If you are planning to go to something Tuesday night, please check with the event’s organizers to make sure it’s still on.

The Town of Huntington will be closing the Clark Gillies Dix Hills Ice Rink at 5 p.m. Also,  the Department of Environmental Waste Management is requesting that all resident scheduled for paper/cardboard recycling tomorrow (Wednesday)hold putting their items on the curb overnight for pickup in the am.

“It should be noted that wet paper and cardboard cannot be recycled and will have to be placed in the regular garbage for incineration.  So, if you can hold it for a couple of weeks, please do so for the environment,” the town said.

Huntington School District: All games are postponed, both home and away at the high school and middle school. Practices must end by 5:30 p.m. so the kids can be home by 6. Driver education program evening lecture class will be rescheduled. Clubs can meet, but must cease by 5:30 p.m. similar to athletics.

Northport-East Northport Schools: All after-school activities canceled;  SCOPE will continue as scheduled.

Half Hollow Hills:  All after-school activities will be canceled for this afternoon and evening. This includes all athletic events, extra-curricular activities and building use by external organizations.

South Huntington schools: ll after-school activities and programs, with the exception of the YMCA after-school daycare at Countrywood and Oakwood Primary Schools.

Town of Huntington: inauguration. Was scheduled for 6 p.m. Postponed.

Smith Point Outer Beach: Tthe outer beach will be closing at 2pm on 1/9/2024 until further notice.
