Thorbourne Named Human Services Director for Huntington

Kevin Thorbourne has been named director of human services for the Town of Huntington.

Thorbourne, who served as minority affairs director for the town, replaces Carmen Kasper, who resigned in October after she was suspended for inappropriate remarks made to a town employee.

The human services department handles programming and support for senior citizens, veterans, minorities, persons with disabilities and women.

Thorbourne has also worked as a Finley Middle School assistant football coach, and varsity assistant men’s basketball coach, and head coach of the varsity women’s spring track.

For years, he has been deeply involved in community activities around town, such as food drives, Leadership Huntington, toy donations, and Black history activities.

His appointment was approved by the Town Board, 5-0, at Thursday’s meeting.
