Town Board Approves Athletic Programs

The Huntington Town Board voted Tuesday to approve several contracts for athletic events this summer and fall.

Approved were:

An agreement with the Suffolk County Police Athletic League for a soccer program at Manor FIeld Park from Sept. 12-Nov. 30, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Resolution was sponsored by Councilman Gene Cook and approved unanimously.

An ageement with St. Anthony’s High School for the use of Gold Star Beach facilities to conduct a Learn to Row Camp from July 19-July 21. Sponsored by Councilman Sal Ferro and approved unanimously.

A camp sponsored by the Cold Spring Harbor-Huntington Soccer Club for use of Breezy Park fields for a soccer clinic enrolled in the Tri-CYA programs. Started Monday and continues through Aug. 29. Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by Joan Cergol and approved unanimously.

An agreement with Igloo Lacrosse to use Breezy Park for a lacrosse tryout clinic July 19-21. Igloo will pay the town $16,200 for the park’s use. Sponsored by Ferro and unanimously approved.

The board also approved the use of Fleets Cove Beach by the Sagamore Rowing Association for its rowing program and temporary storage of boats and related equipment.
