Updated: Winds Whip Through Huntington as Thunderstorm Moves In

The fierce winds that blew threw Huntington Saturday evening brought down numerous branches and leaves.

A drive from the Target store area on East Jericho Turnpike to near Park Avenue was noisy as several small branches blew off trees onto vehicles, even before the brief rain hit.

Updated: Several PSEG-LI customers reported losing power in the area of Caumsett Park, Huntington Station, including Columbia Street, Commack, parts of Park Avenue and Oakwood Road. Other residents reported flicking lights,

The storm moved east onto Long Island at about 35 MPH.

About 7 p.m. the National Weather Service advised boaters to stay off the waters and seek shelter because of wind and expected lightning strikes.
