It’s that time of year again as students get ready to return to the classroom.
Some districts, including Huntington, Elwood and Northport, have or will have new superintendents in place. Others, such as South Huntington, have new principals taking the reins.
At least two districts have stepped up security, adding armed teams to the grounds of their buildings. And several school districts have changed their calendars recently to include recognition of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr and the Hindu holiday of Diwali.
This is when public schools in the Town of Huntington will open for the new year.
