The Walt Whitman Birthplace has named Linda Gregerson poet in residence for 2024.
Gregerson, whose first work, Fire in the Conservatory, was published in 1982, is the Caroline Walker Bynum Distinguished University Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Michigan.
She was elected a chancellor of of the Academy of American Poets in 2015. The Poetry Foundation describes her as “a Renaissance scholar, a classically trained actor, and a devotee of the sciences.”
