Two Second Precinct officers were slightly injured Monday when a stairwell collapsed in Huntington Station, Suffolk County police said Tuesday.
The two responded to a report of a burglary in progress on 11th Avenue in Huntington Station at 2:39 p.m.
While searching the residence, the basement stairs collapsed and two officers fell about 8 to 10 feet. Both officers were taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.
The report of a burglary is still under investigation.
