The Great Cow Harbor Day weekend returns Sept. 23-24, complete with its prestigious 10K race, and a celebration of all things Northport.
The nationally ranked race typically draws about 5,000 runners, while thousands of visitors flock to the village to watch runners compete. The run and 2K Fun Run/Walk help support the Special Olympics and other local organizations, such as the Northwell Health Foundation, the Veterans Administration, and the Ecumenical Lay Council Food Pantry. A handful of race registrations are still available.
Saturday’s race will be followed a display of decorated boats in Northport Harbor and a concert in the evening. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the best decorated boats.
On Sunday, the parade starts at noon at Brosnan School, while Newton Rides and midway be operating, and vendors set up downtown will open. Music will be available at the Village Park, and in front of Engeman Theater.
