Bocce Court, Pavilion at Bennardo Park in Huntington Station

A bocce court has been added to a community park next door to the adminstrative offices of the South Huntington school district.

The park was a gift to Dr. Dave Bennardo from the Board of Education in recognition of his nine years of leadership and dedication as superintendent of South Huntington when he retired in June of 2021. Bennardo is now a member of the Huntington Town Board.

The hilly area at is well known as a favorite spot for sledding during the winter.

The park, which is completely fenced off, includes a covered pavilion and picnic tables.

“This is a beloved area of the South Huntington School District and the addition of a pavilion and bocce court will provide enjoyment to a greater number of residents,” said Board President Nicholas Ciappetta.  “The official dedication of the land as a park will preserve the area for generations to come.”

The park is open to the public.
