Happening Saturday: Beach Cleanup, Firefighter Competition

Saturday morning, the Suffolk County Police Department will conduct a training drill at Walt Whitman High School from 4 am until 11 am.  Multiple agencies are involved in the training so emergency response and other vehicles may be in the vicinity.

It’s also Stamp Out Hunger day–leave a bag of non-perishable food items at your mailbox. Postal workers are collecting donations for those in need.

The filming of an episode of American Horror Story on Wall Street is supposed to finish overnight and the street reopen by about 6 a.m.

Jaws of Life Competition

Teams of firefighters from 15 departments will compete Saturday in the Chuck Varese Vehicle Extrication Tournament in Northport.

Gershow Recycling is donating 30 vehicles to the competition, which starts at 9 a.m. at Steers Pit and involves 30 teams.

Craft Fair

Northport High School will be the site of the spring art  and craft fair, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with more than 125 vendors expected.

Beach Cleanup

Councilwoman Joan Cergol is leading a cleanup of Gold Star Battalion Beach from 10 a.m. to noon, with the support of Huntington Hospital and the pizza provided by Southdown Pizza.
