Philanthropist Donates to Cover ‘Shop With a Cop’ Outing

A philanthropist is turning into Santa’s helper this week when he pays for kids in need to go shopping for Christmas.

The Shop With a Cop program will have Suffolk County Second Precinct officers guiding about 40 youngsters around Target  in Huntington Station on Thusday, as the children pick out presents for themselves.

“This one’s exciting,” said Rosario Cassata, who paid $3,500 to cover the entire shopping excursion. “It’s kind of an opportunity for these kids to bond with police officers as well as put soe smiles on their faces.”

The Cassata Foundation has supported numerous children’s programs, and, among other efforts, donated masks and meals to Huntington Hospital in the early days of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Police Officer Claudia Delgado said that a certain well-known Huntington Station activist and his wife will be dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus.
