High school football teams collected food donations Sunday at supermarkets around Huntington.
Players from Huntington, Northport, Harborfields and Elwood John Glenn accepted donations, both food and money, from shoppers at three Stop & Shop stores and Greenlawn Farms, in a drive organized by Councilman Sal Ferro and Directory of Minority Affairs Kevin Thorbourne.
Ferro took several Blue Devil players on a shopping expedition at the Stop & Shop in downtown Huntington to fill a shopping cart with groceries.
The donations will be distributed to several Huntington food banks.
