Report: DoorDash Plans Convenience Store in Commack

DoorDash, best known as an app that allows customers to order meals and other items for delivery, plans to open its own store in Commack, according to Newsday.

The DashMart store is planned for a vacant building at 6133 Jericho Tpke.

In 2020, DoorDash said, “DashMart is a new type of convenience store, offering both household essentials and local restaurant favorites to our customers’ doorsteps. On DashMart, you’ll find thousands of convenience, grocery, and restaurant items, from ice cream and chips, to cough medicine and dog food, to spice rubs and packaged desserts from the local restaurants you love on DoorDash. DashMart stores are owned, operated, and curated by DoorDash.”

Newsday said that property owner Commack Cubes LLC has applied to the town for alterations for what it said was a “storage facility,” in the 10,928-square foot building, Newsday said.  DashMarts are not for in-person shopping: they fulfill pickup or delivery orders.
