A 76-year-old woman was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when she was hit by a car on New York Avenue at Main Street.
Suffolk County police said the woman was crossing Main when she was hit by the car, a 2012 Nissan, driven by an 18-year-old woman, at about 2:10 p.m.
The injured woman was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver was not injured. The Second Squad is investigating.

A woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a car at car at Main Street and New York Avenue, witnesses reported Sunday afternoon.
The state 511 system reported that both lanes on New York Avenue were closed at 2:19 p.m., as were all lanes on Main Street west to Elm Street. Suffolk police were notified at about 2:10 p.m.
A passerby reported that a doctor and physician’s assistant rushed out of Little Vincent’s Pizzeria to assist the injured woman.
Police said the woman was transported to Huntington Hospital.
No other information was immediately available.
